J + P Church

A sacred place for encountering the God that designed with radical geometry and strong directionality. Calming and unostentatious interior will make the focus remain on churchgoers and provide them with a peaceful atmosphere set apart from everyday lives.

This church is used as an oratory, administrative building and religious education building. It is used honest exploration of form, function, light, and material that results in a sacred place.

The plan creates a strong differentiation between the sacred and secular components. Secular components take the north side that consists of two classrooms, two mess rooms, and an administrative room on the ground floor. The first floor provides 5 classrooms, and the second floor is used for private space specially for pastor.

Gigantic entrance with layering ellipses that made from concrete in the centre became a highlight that show this building presence. Both interior and exterior is well designed by working with limited colour pallet of poured-in-place concrete, clear glass, and wood. By playing with these kind of materials, we created an environment that places a high importance on spatial features on humble materials.
